Decades ago, most cars and trucks didn’t come with center consoles. In some cases, this was based on the vehicle design; in others, it was a cost concern. If you’re looking for a location for a modern multimedia receiver or a subwoofer enclosure where there isn’t room, having a specialty mobile enhancement retailer build you a console can be a great solution.
Evolution Garage
Thanks to our friend Moe Sabourin for connecting us with the guys at Evolution Garage in Eustis, Florida. The lead-in photo for this article is an example of their custom fabrication capabilities. Shown here is a console that Justin Vaughn built for a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle. The console features gauges, a Kenwood radio, cup holders and leather trim around the shifter that matches the seats.
This console extends the dash’s smooth, organic shape into the floor of this gorgeous 1932 Ford. Once again, a Kenwood multimedia receiver serves as the centerpiece for this nicely crafted console.
August Customs
Located in Kelowna, British Columbia, the team at August Customs created a console for a client’s 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. The team relocated the shifter from its original floor mount and added custom laminated acrylic and aluminum trim panels. There are also switches for the newly installed power windows and a 3D-printed mount for the fuel injection display.
Echo AVU
The lads at Echo AVU in Grande Prairie, Alberta, created a serious subwoofer system for this client’s 1993 Chevrolet K2500. The enclosure is home to a pair of JL Audio 12W6v3 subwoofers that fire down into the floor.
Dreamworks Motorsports
Dustin Winn from Dreamworks Motorsports in Roxboro, North Carolina, sent along a few photos of a custom center console they constructed for a client’s vehicle. The console houses a new multimedia receiver, window control switches and an armrest. The image below gives you a look at how much attention to detail goes into some of these amazing creations.

Steve McIntyre
Steve McIntyre shared a few photos of the custom console created for his 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250S. Steve previously owned a shop called Soundstage Car Audio in Olympia, Washington. He’s since sold the car and the shop. The console is home to a modified Panasonic “Bottlehead” source unit and includes a Spanish Cedar-lined humidor.

It’s finished in several vinyl colors to match the dash and includes hidden LED lighting to add style.

Titan Motoring
Dave Koz, one of the amazing fabricators at Titan Motoring in Nashville, Tennessee, created this bespoke console for a client’s classic 1954 Jaguar XK120. If you aren’t familiar with the vehicle, the original dash is usually a straight horizontal line from left to right. This new upgrade looks like it belongs!
Broken Silence
Our friend B.J. Curcio from Broken Silence Custom Car Audio in Greenwich, Connecticut, created this custom vinyl-wrapped subwoofer enclosure for a client’s 1995 Land Rover. The Land Rover emblem and integrated cup holders add just the right touch of style to this project.
